- Troubleshoot and repair a variety of high and low voltage distribution systems, troubleshoot and repair control systems (PLC/DCS/SCADA) faults, troubleshoot and resolve field issues by reading through Hardwired relay/PLC/DCS logic, troubleshoot and resolve issues with field electrical and instrument (electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic) & control devices,
- Configure settings and calibrations or above said electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Implement preventative and predictive programs/assignments for Electrical & Instrument systems
- Participate in safety and environment driven programs
- Maintain equipment histories as required
- Plan and estimate jobs, including assessment, selection of material, etc.
- Work effectively in a flexible multidisciplinary team environment and communicate clearly with all others
- A minimum of 5 years’ refinery or industrial maintenance related experience (post apprenticeship)
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required
- Successful completion of a community college program as Electrical Technician / Technologist or equivalent international credentials
- 309A or 442A Electrician Certificate
- Certificate in 447A Trade and experience in Instrumentation trade in addition to 309A or 442A Electrician Certificate is preferred
- Sound knowledge of testing, troubleshooting, maintenance of high to low voltage systems (Transformers, HV Cables and cabling/conduit systems, Motors, Generators, Breakers, Starters/Contactors, MCCs, Automatic transfer schemes, Protective relays, VFDs, UPS etc.)
- Fully knowledgeable in grounding and bonding requirements
- Able to troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation systems using various wiring and logic diagrams
- Sound knowledge of PLC/DCS/SCADA hardware/operation/programming
- Sound knowledge field electrical and instrument (electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic) device settings and calibration
- High level knowledgeable of Ontario Electrical Safety Code (O. Reg. 777/21) OR Equivalent from other provinces. Ability to understand and interpret electrical and instrumentation codes, standards
- Strong analytical/troubleshooting/decision making skills backed by strong oral and written communication skills
- High level of computer literacy
- Must be a self-starter and demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions while working with limited supervision
- Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI family, Honeywell Experion DCS, GE protection relay family is preferred
- Knowledge of Arc flash hazards and PPE requirements are preferred
- High level knowledge of temperature, level, pressure and flow measurement instruments are preferred
- Knowledge of SAP is an asset
- Knowledge of W.H.M.I.S. and OH&S regulations ad has good housekeeping standards
- Required to work in all temperatures and subject to varying weather conditions. May be exposed to dust, dirt, mud, water, and petroleum products, etc. Work in high, precarious places up to 200ft. Outdoor duties under wet and/or humid conditions, at both below grade and elevated positions. Industrial environment, including, but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks, steam lines, electricity, loud noise, vibrations, confined spaces and rotating equipment
- As a condition of employment, it is mandatory that the successful candidate complete all phases of the Performance Based Progression program up to Technician 1 within specified timelines
- Overtime is a requirement of this position
- Must have a valid drivers license
