
Counsellor (Single-Session/Same Day)

- Previous or current experience providing psychotherapy and crisis intervention for individuals with complex mental health issues, including trauma, suicide risk, and self-harm.
- Experience in clinical case formulation, treatment planning, and responding to clients in emotional crises or urgent needs, including drop-in or unscheduled formats.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to develop therapeutic relationships with students. Must be sensitive, unbiased, and capable of independent work as well as working within a shared care model.
- Knowledge of the developmental stages and unique stresses faced by post-secondary students.
- Strong time management skills, ability to stay on schedule, and flexibility to handle unscheduled urgent situations.
- Recognizes limitations and knows when to consult or seek supervision.
- Completion of a master's degree in a counselling field and/or social work, with current valid registration with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario as a full Registered Psychotherapist (RP).
- Five years working as a counsellor and/or psychotherapist in diverse settings, including at least three years' experience in a college or university setting is preferred. Experience in the provision of Single-Session counselling, as well as experience in service navigation with diverse populations.
