
Instrumentation Technician Geochemistry - 6 Month Contract

- Execute laboratory techniques independently, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to carry out geochemical analyses
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot various geochemistry instruments and equipment
- Perform routine instrument checks for compliance and accurate testing results
- Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books
- Record and interpret results in a timely manner, presenting findings to senior colleagues
- Assist in preparing method SOPs, validation protocols, and reports
- Inventory and manage laboratory supplies to ensure availability
- Implement and maintain safe work practices, enforcing a clean and organized working environment
- Assist in monitoring and checking the completion of daily health and safety checks, monthly meetings, and emergency protocols
- Collaborate with team members to optimize laboratory processes and efficiency
- BSc. or Diploma in a Science-related program, or equivalent experience/training
- Minimum 1-3 years of relevant laboratory work experience, preferably in geochemistry
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining various geochemistry instruments
- Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures specific to geochemistry
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in using computer software, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and good judgment in identifying and resolving issues
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow work instructions accurately
- Excellent time management skills and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Good hand-eye coordination when handling samples and laboratory equipment
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and quality control procedures
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage conflicting demands
- Flexibility to work extended hours and shifts as required
- Willingness to travel to other locations occasionally
