ABOUT THE ROLEAmrize is seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our Ready Mix Division. This position is part of a unionized workforce. This candidate will work within the quality control team to provide timely and accurate process control information, ensure that all testing equipment is operating properly, perform pre-pour and post-pour checks, perform concrete testing and certify that completed products meet specifications. Daily adherence to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is required, as well as ensuring all requirements are met to maintain certification to these standards. The successful candidate will report to the Quality Control Supervisor and work closely with other Quality Control (QC) Technicians.WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISHImplement and follow the Quality Control (QC) program, including inspections, testing, and completing required documentation.Test and verify concrete products during batching and on-site, ensuring compliance with CSA standards.Conduct various concrete tests both in-plant and in the field, including aggregate sampling and burn-offs.Operate, maintain, and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate performance.Maintain detailed records of all testing procedures, results, and supporting documentation.Work closely with ready-mix drivers to provide guidance on mix designs, slumps, air content, and related specifications.Identify and report any deficiencies in product quality, and assist in developing corrective action plans.Ensure all quality control procedures and documentation meet CSA standards and internal guidelines.Provide ongoing technical support to production teams and complete all required paperwork (manual and digital).Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOREducation Required: Bachelor's Degree in a related field of science or engineeringRequired Work Experience: 2 years' experience working in quality control/construction field. Experience working in the concrete industry is preferred.Required Technical Skills: Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and other basic operating programs.Required Training/Certifications: ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 certification (certification must be obtained within 3-months of start date) or CCIL Concrete Certification (preferred)Additional Requirements:Strong product and production knowledgeStrong communication skills, both verbal and written, with attention to detailHave a basic understanding of the chemistry of concrete and its ingredientsGood mechanical aptitude and able to interpret technical drawingsMaintains composure in dealing with difficult situationsAble to sit, stand, climb and walk for extended periods of time as necessaryAble to lift up to 50 poundsAble to work in an industrial environment that may include dust, heat, loud noise, etc.Able to work effectively as part of a teamSuccessful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators.
