Your Opportunity:The Psychology II position reports to the manager of Child and Adolescent Addiction and Mental Health and Psychiatry Program (CAAMHPP) Specialized Services, an outpatient tertiary level service for children and adolescents who present with complex and co-morbid mental health disorders and associated neurological, developmental, neurodevelopmental, cognitive and behavioral issues. The Neuropsychiatry Service (NPS) provides service within a multidisciplinary team context and offers consultation, diagnostic assessment and episodic treatment within a family-centered model of care. The responsibilities of the Psychologist II include working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to provide diagnostic clarity, evidence-informed intervention for children and adolescents and their families, and consultation to professionals within and external to Recovery Alberta. The successful candidate must be skillful in building capacity with parents, home and school teams to learn to manage children with complex needs. The Psychology II position is an advanced clinical position that requires good communication and interpersonal skills, sound judgement, and the ability to practice independently and collaboratively with team members and professionals. Skills in program development, evaluation and research are required and participation in these activities may be required. The supervision of Provisional Psychologists and Psychology Residents is expected. The position is assigned to the Neuropsychiatry Service and can be reassigned to another area of Specialized Services based on operational need. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Required Qualifications:Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP). Additional Required Qualifications:3-5 years recent post-degree experience working with Children and Adolescents in a tertiary in-patient or out-patient setting required. Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team required. Experience working with a range of Mental Health, Neurological and Genetic disorders required. Experience working with Neurodiverse populations required. Experience working from a trauma-focused perspective required. Experience in CBT and other evidence based practices required. Demonstrated skill and experience in diagnostic assessment and Psychometric Testing required. Demonstrated Clinical Skills in assessment, diagnosis, formulation and intervention with children, adolescents and families, as well as system and navigation of Child and Adolescent Services within AHS and the community required. Ability to complete a differential diagnosis using DSM V required. Experience working collaboratively with FSCD and Children's Services required. Demonstrated ability to work in a consultative and collaborative manner with schools and other community resources required. Sound clinical and professional judgement and ability to work independently required. Must have calm, warm engaging style with proven ability to engage families and clients who can present as highly distressed and dysregulated. Preferred Qualifications:Brain Story Certification preferred. Connect Attachment Group trained preferred. Experience in Group work preferred. Experience working with ASD preferred. Collaborative Problem Solving trained preferred.
