This role ensures timely and accurate payroll for union and non-union employees, compliance with legislation and company policies, and provides exceptional support to employees and internal teams.The day to day:
  • Administer bi-weekly payroll for unionized and non-union employees with accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to validate timesheets, schedules, and pay rates within our payroll system (WinTeam).
  • Maintain compliance with Employment Standards Act, union agreements, and company policies.
  • Process employee changes including hires, terminations, ROEs, vacation payouts, and adjustments.
  • Prepare and distribute year-end reports including T4s, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
  • Handle union requirements, wage scales, and remit union dues.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and address payroll-related requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Liaise with external parties such as CRA, Service Canada, WCB, and legal representatives regarding payroll matters.
  • Support finance team operations, including cross-training in AR and AP to provide coverage when needed.
What You Bring
  • Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and resolve discrepancies efficiently.
  • Strong time management, attention to detail, organizational, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and ability to learn new ERP systems quickly (WinTeam experience an asset).
  • Knowledge of employment legislation and complex union agreements.
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma required; post-secondary education in accounting or finance is preferred
  • Prior payroll administration experience and/or PCP Certification (or equivalent payroll education) is an asset
Working Conditions
  • Full-time role with the possibility of hybrid work after probation.
  • Occasional overtime during month-end and year-end periods.
