As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the order management of goods and services. Your goal will be to coordinate with business requestors, contract specialists, and suppliers to ensure accurate purchase order setup, documentation, approvals, and timely delivery. Your success will be demonstrated through efficient order processing, effective issue resolution, and consistent support of operational needs.What We Offer:Work Environment – Work and grow within Canada’s largest Refinery, with strong safety culture, access to a fitness facility, an onsite medical team, and a caféCompetitive Compensation – Including an annual bonus plan, and pension planFlexible Benefits Plan – In effect from day one and offers three levels of coverage to select from to meet your unique, personal needsPaid Vacation – Plus an annual option to purchase additional vacation, tooWellness Support – With 24/7 access to our Employee & Family Assistance ProgramOpportunity to give back to some amazing causes in our community – Choose when and where to make an impact with a paid volunteer day, company volunteer opportunities, and a donation matching programYour Responsibilities:Understand business requirements and effectively manage the procure to pay process by daily review of requisitions for procurement of goods and/or servicesNegotiate with qualified suppliers to ensure the best value for the companyNegotiate payment terms, purchase order terms and conditions with guidance from more experienced BuyersIssue purchase orders and gain appropriate approvalFollow through with suppliers/contractors to ensure purchase order commitments are acknowledgedExpedite deliveries of goods as required at site datesResolve any invoice holds/errors to ensure payment to suppliersManage timely closure of Purchase Orders (POs) to mitigate riskYour Skills:Able to work independently or as part of a team, and collaborate with diverse groupsEffective communication—written, verbal, and interpersonalAttention to detail and accuracyTime management and ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentNegotiation skills with the ability to influence outcomes, resolve differences, and secure mutually beneficial agreementsProficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteYour Experience:A university degree or an equivalent combination of education and related experience in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Accounting2-3 years of experience with Procure to Pay procedures, sourcing, and negotiationFamiliar with basic principles of Contract ManagementExperience with various ERPsExperience with Oracle EBS is an assetIrving Oil is committed to supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment.
