- Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.

- Ability to safely work with a variety of industrial housekeeping chemicals.
- Ability to perform overhead cleaning.
- Must be comfortable working on a safety ladder.
- Previous experience with hospital housekeeping duties,
- Previous experience safely operating hospital grade equipment (auto scrubbers, burnishers, swing machines and steamers),
- Previous experience in housekeeping floor refinishing including stripping, waxing of floors and carpet cleaning,
- Previous experience safely operating an industrial washer and dryer, and
- Familiarity and comfort utilizing basic technology (computers, pagers and smartphones).
- Performs core cleaning duties to ensure cleanliness of common and non-patient areas, internally and externally as well as equipment contained within Quinte Health.
- Restock supplies in each area.
- Laundry duties including inventory, distribution and online ordering.
- Operates industrial washer and dryer.
- Performs all duties related to core housekeeping services including collecting, disposing, and transportation of waste, confidential waste, supplies, materials and equipment according to specified guidelines.
- Participates in scheduled cleaning projects as required.
- Operates, and maintains the cleanliness of compactor, shredder and bailer, processes all related material according to established guidelines, and maintains appropriate records.
- Identifies maintenance needs to the Team Leader.
- Transports specific equipment and supplies to other proper locations or storage areas within each hospital location in accordance with safe handling techniques.
- Required Occasionally - lifting average 10-25 pounds, carrying and pushing/pulling.
- Required Infrequently - lifting up to 60 pounds, carrying and pushing/pulling.
- Required Frequently - prolonged standing and walking on hard surfaces.
- Required Occasionally - crouching/squatting, foot activation.
- Required Rarely - bending/stooping, climbing.
- Required Occasionally - lifting average 10-25 pounds, carrying and pushing/pulling.
- Required Frequently - reaching, neck, elbow, shoulder, wrist and back normal range of motion.
- Required Often - material handling, gripping/grasping.
- Required Occasionally - fine finger movements, reaching, handling, gripping/grasping.
