- Conduct work in accordance with sound engineering and business practices.
- Create and review technical documents, including but not limited to, design calculations, drawings, details, and specifications from conception to final design, according to established standards and procedures for a wide variety of steel and concrete structures.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet the project requirements, are delivered on or ahead of schedule and on or under budget.
- Review, understand, interpret, and consider client's specifications, relevant codes and regulations, standards, and best practices in the design process.
- Identify and design improvements to optimize overall cost within the project specifications.
- Prepare and communicate technical concepts and project updates clearly and concisely and adapt your communication style to suit different audiences.
- Work closely with the engineering team, external suppliers and contractors to identify and implement the best technical solutions for each project.
- Work with other discipline to resolve technical issues.
- Ensure safety and quality is designed into all products supplied and developed by the company.
- Review constructability during detailed design and suitability of the field installation design for reliability, maintainability, and operability.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, preassembly, erection, maintenance of the equipment.
- Perform shop and site visits to ensure compliance with the project specifications, engineering documents and Beumer's performance and quality expectations.
- Other duties assigned, as necessary.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- APEGA P.Eng. designation. Other Canadian or USA Professional Engineering designations would be an asset.
- 5+ years of experience working as a Structural Engineer in one or a combination of mining, aggregates, cement, industrial minerals coupled with material conveying solutions.
- Possesses strong theoretical and practical knowledge in the design and execution of supporting structures for machines and equipment.
- Conversant with the National Building Code of Canada - NBCC, relevant provincial building codes, CSA codes for design of steel and concrete structures. Experience with American or Eurocodes would be an asset.
- Experience working in a multidiscipline environment.
- Strong digital literacy including experience in structural analysis and design software such as Dlubal RFEM/RSTAB or ROBOT standard MS Office software.
- Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
- Excellent written and oral communication and teamwork skills.
- Be self-motivated and efficient in time management and organizational skills.
- Able to travel to meet with suppliers and clients as business requires, up to 10%.
