Thales has a vacancy for a Warehouse Lead who will be integral in the success of daily operations relating to the timely and efficient flow of material and equipment through the warehouse. Manual and automated functions include but will not be limited to the processing of receipts, shipping requirements, inventory control related tasks and material routing functions to/from the warehouse in support of operations.
As a member of the warehouse team within the Supply Chain organization, you will direct and actively participate in daily warehouse operations while working closely with internal departments including Procurement, Service Delivery, Quality, Engineering and additional Supply Chain teams while also liaising with external organizations including the customer.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The Warehouse Lead will be responsible to oversee the daily operations within the warehouse, ensuring the effective and timely execution of logistic activities including receipt, storage and dispatch of material. This function coordinates the activity of the warehouse team to support an uninterrupted flow of goods and/or services while ensuring compliance to Quality & Safety policy.
Supervise, direct, coordinate and actively participate in daily warehousing functions:
- Receiving:
o Responsible for non-conformance management of incoming (& in stock) material.
o General oversight of the warehouse dock and incoming freight activity.
- Shipping:
o Complete documentation and labelling while complying with customs & export requirements.
o Action and schedule shipping requirements with couriers and freight forwarders; track freight, resolve frustrated cargo situations and identify areas of improvement in distribution.
- Material Picking, kitting issue and storage:
o Process requests for spares, issue, pick package & move material; distribute parts for customer delivery.
o Ensure accuracy of material demand, ship to location and relevant detail on delivery documents.
o Locate and store inventory in designated & approved storage areas IAW hazardous goods and other applicable statutory regulations.
o Process returned material (not required, repairable, damaged, rejected or scrap); identify routing requirements and ensure accuracy of documentation to support asset traceability; track and report on status.
- Inventory Management:
o Initiate action to generate demand, create purchase requisitions; direct and manage progress with stakeholders.
o Track material availability and delivery dates, following up to expedite delivery and resolve problems in the supply chain.
o Perform parts consumption analysis to identify required inventory and recommend stocking level adjustments.
o Monitor inventory subject to shelf life; coordinate action to manage expiry dates and disposition.
o Schedule, lead and execute stocktaking activity including cycle counts and special inventories; track and record physical counting, recounting, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies as a result of investigations.
- Oversee the management and movement of Material Assets, including but not limited to:
o Repairable equipment and special tools/test equipment.
o Maintain equipment calibration program liaising with relevant stakeholders, track and report on status.
- Team and Warehouse Process Development:
o Initiate, support and participate in continuous improvement initiates to enhance warehouse operations.
o Communicate effectively with team members; liaise with internal and customer representatives in addition to external organizations while supporting a collaborative environment.
o Work proactively with the warehouse team to enhance performance of the Function.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into the Thales ERP system and/or customer material management system to update material activity, movement and status.
- Prepare reports related to productivity, inventory and safety; support KPIs in coordination with the Warehouse Manager.
- Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience performing similar activities within a supply chain environment.
- Experience working within Supply Chain/Procurement & Warehousing environments.
- Working knowledge of warehousing, purchasing, distribution processes and systems.
- Previous experience in the use of SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
- Bachelor’s Degree, Trade Certification and/or equivalent experience.
- Defense Industry experience an asset.
- Familiarity with, and in the use of, the Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS).
- Knowledge of the U.S. International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Canadian Export and Import Permits Act, experience with export control and permit application process.
