(Permanent – in Kuujjuaq)Reporting to the Construction Coordinator, the Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates, budgets, and schedules for building and infrastructure projects carried out in Nunavik’s 14 Northern villages.DUTIES:
- Analyze architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Conduct site visits and collaborate with engineers, architects, and project managers to assess project requirements.
- Develop detailed project estimates including quantities, pricing, subcontractor quotes, and contingency considerations.
- Evaluate and monitor cost variances throughout project execution and update estimates as necessary.
- Assist in preparing tender documentation and evaluating bids.
- Provide support in the development of project budgets, cash flows, and construction schedules.
- Coordinate with procurement and finance teams to ensure cost alignment and compliance.
- Maintain a database of historical cost data and support continuous improvement in estimating practices.
- Perform any other related duties as required by the supervisor.
- Diploma of College Studies (DEC) or a degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in cost estimating, preferably in building construction or infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of estimating software and tools (e.g., MS Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication skills in at least two of the following languages: Inuktitut, English, and French.
- Demonstrates attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to Nunavik and live in shared accommodations.
- Previous experience working north of the 55th parallel is an asset.
Salary: Min. $52,481 - Max. $89,256 a year
Benefits:
Cost-of-living differential: minimum $8 500 annually;
Food allowance: minimum $4 216 annually;
Annual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annually;

Vacation: 20 days annually.
