OverviewHexagon Autonomy and Positioning (A&P) is looking for Component Engineer to cover a 12 month maternity leave. In this position, you will woork directly with Engineering, and Supply Chain. The job will provide you with diverse experiences in both new product introduction, component evaluation and selection while providing an opportunity to learn about GNSS products.Our customers rely on Hexagon A&P’s industry-leading technology when building their own solutions. This position is based in Calgary, AB.ResponsibilitiesAs a Component Engineer, you will be responsible for:
  • Supporting Supply Chain and Engineering by identifying suitable electronics component alternatives, second sources and managing qualification in affected products
  • Ensuring selected components meet or exceed quality and reliability standards
  • Review technical data sheets to assess Digital and RF hardware design fit
  • Reviewing components for compliance to relevant standards (RoHS, WEEE, REACH, Conflict Minerals, etc.) and maintain supporting documentation
  • Support project teams in the sourcing and selection of electronic components (semiconductors, discrete, passives, interconnects, fasteners etc.)
  • Assess current market state and proactively make recommendations to prevent risk
  • Managing component obsolescence including sourcing and recommending alternatives
  • Work directly with component manufacturers on failure analysis to determine root cause and corrective actions
QualificationsMust-Have:
  • Electrical Engineer Degree (new grads will be considered) or Electronics Engineering Technical diploma with 3 to 5 + years’ experience
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
  • Ability to work within a team environment, creating effective relationships with various internal functional teams and external suppliers
  • Organization skills and the ability to deliver tasks with minimal supervision
  • Self-motivated team player with proven problem-solving capabilities
  • Experience in electronic manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of Digital and RF design

  • Communicate in a technical environment with confidence
Nice-to-Have:
  • Understanding of GNSS receivers
  • Experience working in a Continuous Improvement environment
