
Asbestos Analyst

- Preparation, detection, identification, and quantification of materials for the presence of asbestos content using visual estimation percentage and properties of asbestos and non asbestos material by PLM.
- Preparation and analysis of asbestos air samples by PCM.
- Use computers to manage workflow and data entry.
- Coordinate sample analyses and data review of all incoming samples based on priority and turn around times.
- Extended periods of microscope work.
- Maintaining the QA/QC Program and following Standard Operating Procedures.
- Assist in daily laboratory operations, including maintenance, calibration, stocking and cleaning.
- Extended workdays and weekends may occasionally be required.
- Applicant must be able to distinguish colors to perform analysis.
- College Diploma or other suitable Bachelor’s Degree in Science (Biotechnology, Geology or Biology would be an asset).
- Must have at least 2+ years of experience (asbestos characterization by polarized light microscopy and/or phase contrast microscopy), in a production laboratory is desired.
- Superb attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to effectively follow/interpret work instructions, methods and procedures.
- High degree of manual dexterity.
- Highly reliable and deadline-driven.
- Strong communication skills.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Control (QC) and ISO 17025.
- Understanding of good laboratory practices.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Proven computer skills, including MS office.
