- Contribute to developing and supporting the effective implementation of the regional HSE strategy, participating in the regular review of the strategy and its implementation.
- Maintain knowledge and awareness of regional HSE legislation and emerging risks, reporting changes that may impact the business and supporting the development of effective response strategies.
- Manage the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of documented HSE management systems, taking responsibility for the development of robust, best-practice standards, policies, guidance, and practices.
- Manage the creation, continuous development, delivery, assessment of learning outcomes, and performance reporting of engaging, innovative HSE training and learning. Ensure that regional training and development needs are identified and met by providing a comprehensive blended training curriculum, training systems, and tools.
- Provide HSE leadership, support, and guidance to the AST business unit and field-based teams to achieve HSE compliance and objectives.
- Lead the regional development, implementation, and ongoing review of documented HSE management systems, including policies, procedures, safe working instructions, guidance, information, and HSE updates to address relevant business unit needs.
- Manage incident, injury reporting, and investigation for AST. Ensure that all injuries, incidents, and near misses are reported and investigated in accordance with STERIS policy.
- Continually assess, set, and monitor employee training needs and required HSE competencies, developing and maintaining appropriate training matrix plans.
- Monitor and report on training completion, performance, and compliance, using feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support Transitional Work-duty and Workers Compensation claims management.
- Manage the development, implementation, and testing of robust emergency, contingency, business continuity, and disaster recovery plans.
- Engineer solutions to occupational exposures. Drive continuous improvement and deliver strong results from behavioral-based processes
- Support the environmental compliance team, including conducting reviews, to ensure AST Canadian operations and the Equipment &Technology group fully comply with relevant environmental requirements.
- Support the environmental compliance team in communications regarding existing, new, and/or revised environmental regulations for Canada.
- Coordinate environmental compliance tasks
- Bachelor's Degree (Preferred in Occupational Health and Safety, healthcare, Engineering/Science, or related field)
- Minimum of 10 years' experience with degree indicated above or 15 years of experience in lieu of degree
- Experience with remote work
- Experience in performing industrial hygiene surveys with little supervision
- Bilingual (English and French)
