
Sawmill Superintendent

- Institute and maintain progressive employee training and development programs
- Manage all manpower and scheduling requirements
- Maintain progressive implementation of the appropriate work systems, and service and supply contracts
- Progressive implementation of work systems, and service and supply contracts
- Develop yearly capital and operating plans for operations
- Oversee budgets to ensure good cost control and decision making
- Maintain continuous improvement program and maintenance systems to maximize performance in business KPI's
- Optimize product values through coordination between woodlands, lumber sales, sawmill and planer operations for best product strategy and product distribution
- Ensure optimal quality and fibre recovery through process optimization and quality control
- Ensure product quality (lumber, chips, hog, sawdust and shavings) meets customer needs
- Ensure environmental compliance and application of ISO-14001 processes
- Effective communication between business units, employees and customers
- Enforcement and support of corporate policies and procedures
- Maintain security of assets
- Bachelor's degree, technical diploma or equivalent experience
- A minimum of ten years of equivalent experience in the management of forest products operations
- Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
- Ability to assume responsibility, manage multiple priorities and collaboratively drive issues to closure
- Ability to make appropriate decisions rapidly on the basis of experience and judgment even when you have incomplete information and/or you are under pressure
- Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to see the big picture
- Ability to work as part of a team, to communicate with all levels of the organization and to adapt quickly to change
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office and solid computer skills
