This role blends technical architecture, workflow engineering, and AI-enabled process design, with senior-level ownership of automation solutions, to ensure automations are secure, scalable, efficient, measurable, and aligned with enterprise standards. This position serves as the central technical owner of automation patterns, integration standards, environment strategy, deployment practices, operational monitoring, and ongoing optimization. What you’ll do:1. Platform Ownership (n8n + Power Apps/Power Automate + Copilot Integrations)
- Own the architecture, operational health, availability, and performance of the n8n automation environment.
- Own the architecture, operational health, availability, and performance of the Power Automate and Power Apps environment.
- Oversee Microsoft Copilot integrations including data connectors, semantic index considerations, plugin access, and workflow interoperability.
- Define and maintain environment strategy (e.g., dev/test/prod, API rate considerations, compute sizing, connector governance).
- Manage lifecycle of AI-enabled workflows including versioning, approvals, rollback processes, and operational SLAs.
- Establish coding and workflow design standards, including:
- naming conventions
- error handling patterns
- modular workflow design
- retry logic & observability
- API efficiency & resource constraints
- Review and approve complex workflows for architectural soundness.
- Identify optimization opportunities (latency, nodes, branching logic, caching, tokens/credits, API batching).
- Architect and implement AI-powered automations, including prompt-engineered decision steps, AI agent loops, Copilot-triggered workflows, and LLM-assisted enrichment.
- Evaluate and select the appropriate automation environment (n8n, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Python microservices, cloud functions) based on:
- sensitivity of data
- execution frequency
- security considerations
- performance requirements
- integration complexity
- Develop reusable components/templates to accelerate safe and scalable workflow development.
- Ensure workflow execution aligns with internal security standards.
- Validate API keys, credentials, and service accounts follow least-privilege principles.
- Implement operational safeguards such as input validation, prompt hygiene, rate limiting, and monitoring for anomalous automation behavior.
- Build dashboards for:
- workflow execution metrics
- failure trends
- cost tracking
- automation ROI
- Drive root-cause analysis on workflow issues and implement systematic fixes.
- Maintain capacity plans for the automation platform.
- Act as the senior technical lead for automation initiatives, taking ownership of solution design and implementation quality.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to workflow creators on best practices, design patterns, and architecture.
- Work closely with Dev, Ops, Security, Data, and Business units to identify automation opportunities and ensure solutions meet enterprise needs.
- Engage vendors as a technical point of contact, contributing to discussions on feature requests, issues, technical support, and future platform capabilities.
- Strong experience designing and operating automation platforms (n8n; Power Automate, CoPilot).
- Advanced workflow engineering and API integration skills.
- Strong grasp of AI platforms (Copilot, GPT, Gemini) including prompt engineering and embedding workflows.
- Architectural thinking with experience designing scalable workflow systems.
- Strong understanding of access control, credential management, API security, and logging/monitoring.
- Ability to guide and mentor automation developers.
- Skilled at explaining architectural reasoning and AI workflow concepts to technical and non technical audiences.
- Experience prioritizing automation demand and coordinating solution delivery across stakeholders.
