- Perform engineering design and reviews as may be mandated for the design changes in question.
- Prepare engineering design calculations for repair and reinforcing of structural systems involving steel, reinforced concrete and masonry and prepare design documents.
- Provide technical guidance to resolve structural issues and interpret design documents.
- Liaise with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address RFIs, NCRs, and FCRs.
- Identify potential structural risks and recommend corrective measures.
- Provide construction directions driven by structural design.
- Review and comment on the work performed by the others to ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical information and design documentation.
- Attend meetings with contractors, stakeholders and other disciplines to address construction issues and develop effective engineering solutions.
- Conduct regular site walkdowns and verify structural integrity during construction stages.
- Civil Engineering degree from an accredited University.
- Master's degree and above is an asset.
- Must be Licensed in a professional engineering organization recognized in Canada.
- Preferably registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
- Minimum 8 years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete structures.
- Deep and thorough understanding of structural engineering gained through a combination of design-office and site experience.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian and International Codes and standards used in Civil/Structural engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of use of Analysis software commonly used in Civil/Structural engineering such as StaadPro, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, etc.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- This role requires consistent on-site presence and may involve supporting a shift work schedule based on operational needs.
