There are two positions currently vacant, and we are aiming for a start date in April and May. These positions will end in January 2027.What you’ll experience with The DRC:
- $18.00-$20.00 PER HOUR, plus tips, and food discounts at all our restaurants.
- CAREER GROWTH. Learn under the guidance of the Chef team at Pure Spirits and The DRC’s talented Executive Chef team led by Chef Tim Miles (Director of Culinary).
- TRIPS. Yes, you read that right – field trips! Selected employees get the chance to visit artisan food producers, cooking demos, farms and suppliers to educate and inspire.
- GOLDEN TICKETS. AKA more cool prizes awarded to team players that are recognized for their outstanding work ethic.
- Following recipes, portion controls and presentation specifications as set out by our Executive Chef.
- Identifying, opening and cleaning oysters with efficiency and confidence.
- Preparing daily items according to instructions.
- Setting up and shutting down the oyster bed and station.
- Maintaining a clean and organized shucking station.
- Assisting in cleaning food prep areas, equipment, and utensils, while strictly adhering to sanitation, food safety, and hygiene guidelines.
- Following FIFO (first in, first out) method to maximize freshness.
- Moving food products and supplies between outlets when necessary.
- Reporting any equipment/utensil malfunctions/deficiencies to Chef on duty.
- Working collaboratively with BOH team members.
- Following and enforcing hygiene and safety standards set by the Public Health Department and the Company.
- Interacting and engaging with guests sat at the oyster bar while shucking.
- Welcoming other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required.
- KNOWLEDGE. Oyster product knowledge and the ability to identify types and origins is considered a HUGE asset, but we can teach you on the job if you have a passion for oysters. A culinary degree/diploma and/or the equivalent in education and experience is an asset.
- COMMUNICATION. Excellent communication skills and customer service experience is considered an asset. A gift of the gab (a love for meeting and talking to new people) is essential!
- EXPERIENCE. Minimum one (1) year shucking experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment, the experience is an asset – but we are willing to train the right candidate with culinary experience.
- POSITIVITY! You’re someone who has the drive to push through service, loves to learn and wants to have FUN!
- INDEPENDENCE. Ability to work independently with good judgment and problem-solving abilities.
- A STRONG EYE FOR DETAIL, and a STRONG NOSE FOR FRESH SEAFOOD.
