Harbour Development is a large Eastern Canadian Marine Construction and Dredging company. Harbour Development specializes with delivering professional services in all aspects of marine dredging and marine construction services to various private and public marine stakeholders throughout Atlantic Canada, Quebec, Ontario and Western Canada.We operate a fleet of spud barge dredges, shallow draft workboats, tugboats, cranes and dump scows, which is primarily located in Saint John, New Brunswick. We are currently seeking applicants for the position of Dredge/ Marine Engineer to join our successful team.Qualifications:
  • Self-started, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and pride in overall condition of machinery
  • Years of experience required:
2 years. * Willingness to work up to 12-hour shifts, 2 weeks on and 1 week off.
  • SVMO or above is preferred but not required.
  • Emergency Duties, Transport Canada Marine Medical, WHMIS are desired but not required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Report of non-conformities, accidents involving personnel, equipment, and other matters with implications for safe operations and/or pollution risk to the Captain or Superintend on duty.
  • Coordinate all operations and maintenance of machinery and equipment onboard, ensuring all of them are safe, efficient, and conducted meets regulatory and class requirements.
  • Execute work order, preventive or corrective, as assigned.
  • Perform troubleshooting, problem solving as well as preventative and corrective maintenance to prevent down time while ensuring the efficient and continual functioning of the vessel.
  • Review and sign off the Engine Room Logbook while ensuring that all required information is entered accurately and kept up to date.
  • Contribute to Harbour Developments safety culture by:
  • Understand and comply with various safety processes within the Safety Management System.
  • Possess the skills to perform job related tasks and apply safe practices while performing physical tasks.
  • Have a thorough understanding of precautions and procedures related to the Safety Management System.
  • Have thorough understanding of pollution regulations and the company’s objectives regarding environmental protection.
