This is a full-time role covering an 18-month leave, and involves being on campus Monday to Friday.As a member of the Grade 11-12 team, the School Counsellor supports students with academic planning, social-emotional learning (SEL) and well-being. With strong relational, communication and organizational skills, and ability to build a caring rapport with students, the Counsellor will partner with colleagues across the school and will report to the Head, Student Support.This posting is for a vacancy with a projected start date of August, 2026.Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Provide individual and small group counselling to meet the social, emotional and well-being needs of studentsLiaise and collaborate with academic and learning strategy teachers, social workers, nurses, students, parents and administrators in supporting student well-being and growthDevelop and cultivate academic pathways that assist students with academic course planning and selection, in collaboration with University CounsellorsParticipate in Parent-Teacher and/or Counsellor-Parent interviewsLiaise with parents and other community members as needed in service of student well-beingSupport students with self-awareness, social and relationships skillsSupport students with self-management skills such as organization and time managementActively participate on interdisciplinary teams to facilitate care and support plans for learning or social-emotional needsDevelop, collaborate and deliver SEL curricular lessons and workshops for studentsTeach students distress tolerance, self-motivation and stress management skillsAssist in planning and participate in parent and employee well-being education sessionsCounsel students on behaviour, school progress, personal/social issues regarding home, family and peer concernsEnsure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with the IB, CEFR and Ministry of Education curriculum, ensuring differentiationKeep abreast of current resources, research, and best practices in support of student well-beingParticipate in the co-curricular life of the school including coaching, clubs, special events, and tripsCandidate Profile:Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institutionPassionate educator with 5+ years’ of high school counselling experience and has Additional Qualifications in Guidance and/or CounsellingKnowledge of the IB Diploma Program (DP) is a strong assetRelational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice with a commitment to DEIAdept at developing strong and caring relationships with studentsEffectively collaborative with team members across the facultyConfident with and at ease partnering with familiesAn awareness of or experience overseeing educational opportunities offered by external organizationsAn awareness of or experience overseeing scholarship opportunitiesProficient with relevant technology and thrives in an innovative environmentBelief in and alignment with Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and valuesPassionate about teaching and being in service of students and the communityWhy Join Branksome Hall:Joining Branksome Hall will change your life.
