- Work with Senior Engineers and designers to complete projects and grow your skills in the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls fields.
- Follow Project CAD procedures to prepare drawings and ensure acceptable overall layout and presentation of finished drawings.
- Complete drafting for Electrical packages such as cable tray layout, lighting and receptacle layouts, motor control schematic and wiring diagrams. Some design work of these Electrical packages will also be required.
- Complete drafting for Instrumentation packages such as instrument loop diagrams, junction box wiring diagrams, control system block diagrams and fire alarm risers. Some design work of these Instrumentation packages will also be required.
- Interface with other departments to create a project 3D model and create reference 2D backgrounds from the model.
- Preparation of lists such as instrument index, cable schedules, equipment lists and load lists.
- Co-ordinate drawing packages for issue and prepare issue folders for electronic files.
- Gain an understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply it to systems design.
- Provide CAD support to other departments (Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Structural) as required.
- Graduate of an Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering Technology program, or of a related Design/Drafting (CAD) program.
- Registered with Technology Professionals Saskatchewan as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) or Certified Technician (C.Tech) is preferred.
- Up to 5 years experience in Electrical, Instrumentation or Control System design for mining, metallurgical or similar process industries.
- Prior use of AutoCAD; familiarity with 3D design/drafting would be considered an asset.
- Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with databases is beneficial.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility.
- Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment.
- Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required.
