- Produce accurate, brand-compliant restaurant floor plans for new builds,relocations, remodels, and operational modifications across the Canadian portfolio.
- Ensure all designs align with Subway brand standards, operational efficiency requirements, and equipment specifications.
- Apply and maintain brand design standards across all project types, including premium and food court locations.
- Manage a high-volume pipeline of concurrent design projects, ensuring timely delivery aligned with real estate, construction, and permitting timelines.
- Maintain clear tracking of project progress, design status, and documentation to support development reporting and coordination.
- Partner closely with Real Estate and Construction teams to support active deals, landlord submissions, lease negotiations, and permit applications.
- Provide design expertise during site evaluation and development planning to ensure layout feasibility and operational efficiency.
- Work directly with franchisees as a knowledgeable design partner, responding to design questions and resolving issues efficiently
- Through Cross-functional collaboration, support the acceleration of deal conversion, reduce franchisee escalations, and serve as a clear, accountable local partner for all stakeholders
- Coordinate with third-party architects, consultants, and offshore design partner to manage workflow and maintain design quality and consistency.
- Review drawings and design packages to ensure accuracy, brand compliance, and constructability
- Support Franchise Sales teams by developing site packages and insights to attract qualified operators to non-traditional growth channels.
- Support preparation and review of municipal permit submissions and landlord approval packages.
- Ensure designs meet Canadian building codes, accessibility standards, and regulatory requirements, including bilingual documentation and Quebec-specific compliance where applicable.
- Maintain organized project records and ensure all design files are properly stored and tracked in internal systems.
- Provide updates to leadership on design pipeline status, project progress, and risks impacting timelines or compliance.
- Bachelor’s Degree Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Technology, or a related field required.
- Post-secondary education in Architecture, Interior Design, Architectural Technology
- 3-5 years’ experience in commercial or retail design experience, with restaurant, QSR, or food service experience strongly preferred
- Interpersonal, relationship-building and networking skills with a self-motivated attitude to work.
- Advanced Revit Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience with Autodesk Revit and a strong working knowledge of the platform. This includes the ability to modify wall types, place and adjust
- components, perform basic component creation and modeling, and apply or create materials.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects with tight turnaround times.
- Strong working knowledge of Canadian building codes, accessibility standards, and permitting processes; familiarity with Quebec regulations is an asset.
- Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to manage workload independently and prioritize effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and engage franchisees professionally.
- Ability to adapt quickly and manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced development environment.
- Language requirements: Fluent in English – French language a plus.
