The Earth is top of mind for our Geomatics team. On, above, and under the Earth’s surface, we provide our clients a full range of surveying and mapping services. Join a team of inspired and talented professionals who continually find inventive ways to get the job done better, faster, and smarter.Your Key ResponsibilitiesDemonstrate a personal commitment and leadership in providing a safe working environment by promoting and maintaining a culture of safety by compliance with Stantec and client safety systems, policies, procedures, environmental requirementsPerforming a variety of Oilsands related surveys and buried facility locating with minimal supervisionConducting comprehensive topographic, legal, bathymetric, earthworks, civil construction (roads, corridors, piping, slopes, structures) as-built surveysPlan for blast drill hole positions, shovel digging lines, ramp gradients and berm designsConduct 3DLS and aerial drone surveys of the mine siteConsult, collaborate and share survey data with engineering, QA/QC and contract personnelPrepare and maintain sketches, maps and reports of survey data to describe/certify work areasProviding complete and accurate survey data, notes/sketches, and supporting information in accordance with a Data Quality Management SystemProficiency managing data with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, or other survey related software is an assetEffective communication with Project Manager as to progress updates, scope changes, HSSE reporting and other project impactsDepending upon experience, this position may assist with field training, crew supervision, and/or provide crew coordination on larger projectsPerforming routine survey functions associated with mining advancementAssisting with special assignments related to mine optimization and productivity, grade control, inventory, shaft, and geotechnical projects "Your Capabilities and CredentialsAbility to execute surveys in a safe, accurate, efficient, and detailed mannerExperience tracing buried facilities using Electromagnetic Locating techniquesProficiency with 3D Laser Scanners, GPS, drones, total stations and Electromagnetic Locators. Working knowledge of Trimble GPS and Trimble Total Stations is an assetA valid Vehicle Operator’s License and clean driving record is required for this positionAbility to undergo and successfully pass pre-employment testing including but not limited to:- Breath alcohol testUrine drug test.Fitness to work testAudiometric testVision screeningCriminal record testSafe driving screeningExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsEducation and ExperienceMinimum of 1 year of experience as a Party Chief surveying on Oil & Gas and construction projects/sitesA degree or diploma in Geomatics or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) from a recognized institution is preferred but not required This position will require travelling to various sites across Alberta and working out of town and/or province for extended periods of time.This description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.About StantecStantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting.
