Our client is a prominent organization delivering large, complex construction projects and is committed to responsible development and environmental performance. This role offers the opportunity to provide on-site environmental leadership during an active project phase, supporting compliance, coordination, and effective environmental management.Responsibilities:
- Oversee the collection, review, and management of environmental inspection and monitoring data.
- Collaborate with permitting, construction, reclamation, and land management teams to support coordinated project delivery.
- Conduct regular site audits to verify compliance with regulatory obligations and control measures.
- Lead and coordinate on-site environmental oversight personnel, ensuring appropriate qualifications, training, and alignment with project requirements.
- Prepare and contribute to routine and ad hoc reports for internal teams and regulators.
- Exercise stop-work authority when risks or regulatory breaches are identified and ensure timely internal and external notifications.
- Confirm staff understand and follow applicable approvals, permits, and site management documents.
- Ensure environmental monitoring coverage is implemented where required and integrated with construction sequencing and schedules.
- Direct responses to environmental incidents, non-compliances, or spills, including investigations and corrective actions.
- Perform additional tasks as required.
- Post-secondary training in environmental science, environmental engineering, natural resource management, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience supporting environmental compliance on large construction, mining, or industrial projects.
- Strong working knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks relevant to industrial development in Canada.
- Familiarity with environmental management systems, construction monitoring programs, and mitigation planning.
- Proven ability to lead field teams, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions in dynamic site conditions.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
