A state-of-the-art venue with a capacity of up to 2000 will host over 180 concerts and private events annually. You will play a big role in continuing to make this venue an Ottawa staple. If you are ready to be part of Ottawa’s most memorable and historic shows, then you better keep on reading!This role reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for building, leading and developing the Food & Beverage program and team while ensuring all venue opening deadlines, operational requirements, and training initiatives are successfully achieved. This includes recruiting, hiring, establishing service standards, and preparing the department for a successful launch. Once the venue is fully operational, you will provide strong leadership to inspire and guide the team in delivering a fun, safe, and dynamic environment that consistently exceeds guest expectations and enhances the overall venue experience.Operations & Financial Management
Oversee venue operations, managing staffing and service delivery to uphold the highest standards and deliver seamless, memorable experiences for all guests.
Maintain full compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as in-house and provincial alcohol policies and procedures.
Partner with the General Manager to develop menu offerings, incorporating bottle service, and ensure consistent quality, presentation, and adherence to VIP service standards.
Oversee and manage all liquor and beer inventory alongside the F&B Manager, including ordering and maintaining par levels to ensure optimal stock for operations.
Work with the F&B Manager each month to complete accurate month end reporting and reconciliation of all food and beverage inventory.
Oversee scheduling of bartenders, servers, and barbacks, effectively managing labour and overtime to optimize staffing, control costs, and remain within budget.
Conduct daily pre-shift meetings with team to communicate priorities and operational updates.
Partner with the Special Events team to develop menus, including curated wine pairings and specialty cocktail offerings, for events and VIP experiences.
Assist in developing monthly and quarterly specials, promotions.
Document and complete incident reports for any occurrences involving staff or patrons, ensuring accurate records and follow-up.
Build and maintain menus on the backend of the POS system, updating offerings, and gaining proficiency in all POS operations to support smooth staff workflow.
Work with the F&B Manager to manage the YellowDog inventory system, adding all new products to integrate with the Square POS system.
Perform nightly reports as required to maintain accurate inventory and operational records.
Staff Recruitment, Training & Development
Participate in recruitment, hiring, and onboarding to build a skilled, engaged, and high-performing team.
Conduct performance evaluations for staff and supervisors, setting goals and providing ongoing coaching to support development and achieve departmental objectives.
Maintain an open-door policy and facilitate regular team meetings.
Oversee staff training, including cross-training, and professional development initiatives.
Manage staffing levels and ensure appropriate coverage, handling scheduling, hiring, and terminations as needed.
Maintain accurate documentation for performance and disciplinary actions in accordance with company standards.
Qualifications
3–5 years of high-volume, management experience in restaurant, or club operations.
Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Holds all required provincial F&B certifications.
Bilingual (English/French) skills are considered an asset.
Proven expertise in bottle service, craft cocktails, and wine.
Experience with VIP food and beverage offerings.
Experience in developing and executing F&B menus.
Demonstrates the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, and loud environment.
Demonstrates a commitment to the highest standards of service and operational excellence.
Physical Demands/Working Environment
Fast-paced work environment with moderate to loud noise levels.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. as required.
Flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
Position requires extended periods of standing, as well as frequent bending and stooping.
Ability to wear and operate an earpiece for radio communication.
