- Ensure pit operations are in compliance with landowners, permits, approvals, agreements, and environmental concerns, along with following the approved Conservation and Reclamation Plan.
- Responsible for pit management, ensuring all operations are performed safely.
- Hold the Mine Manager title for local area pits.
- Assist in managing all trucking efforts, including hired truck tickets, processing, coding, and payment approval.
- Manage supply and delivery of products to customers.
- Ensure pit equipment maintenance is carried through, and work with local shop on equipment repairs and scheduling thereof.
- Coordinate subcontractors and employees to conduct testing for quality and quantity confirmation of materials with the help and oversight of the Regional Manager – Aggregates.
- Assist the Production Manager in conducting inspections on screening/washing/crushing operations at pits to ensure alignment with corporate policies, practices and the Mine code.
- Support the Regional Manager - Aggregates with scheduling equipment, product supply, and delivery as well as inventory management of required materials.
- Assist the Regional Manager – Aggregates in maintaining constant communication with the production team in fulfilling the customer requirements.
- Support operations in performing sound operating principles, policies and procedures.
- Supervise Equipment Operators assigned to the aggregates operations to ensure compliance to company rules and regulations.
- Assist Terus Aggregates operations management team to price aggregate to the open market.
- Work on maintaining local customers while building up existing clientele within the aggregates division.
- Assist the Regional Manager - Aggregates in preparing customer quotations and tender bids to customers.
- Maintain and grow aggregates market share in the local area.
- Prospect new clients and maintain existing clients to grow external aggregates sales.
- Maintain current customer relationships and be the first point of contact for Aggregates sales.
- Ensure all pit operations are performed with utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved in conjuncture with the Safety Officer.
- Work towards a positive safety culture with employees and coworkers. Set a positive example at all times.
- Carry out site inspections to identify, investigate, correct, and document potential environmental and safety problems (on Enablon etc.).
- Assist the Regional Manager - Aggregates in reviewing aggregate sites regularly to identify environmental concerns in order to avoid negative impacts on the environment. Further, assist in implementing mitigating measures immediately if necessary in order to minimize negative environmental impact.
- Ensure environmentally sound practices are implemented.
- Prepare and issue as required, reports related to the following: work related accidents and incidents, environmental incidents and other reports within the required timeframes and in the designated system/software (Enablon etc.).
- Assist the Regional Manager - Aggregates in tracking and understanding pit costs.
- Assist in negotiating internal and external hauling rates within our local market.
- Assist the Lands and Sustainability Coordinator for Conservation and Reclamation Plans according to the government standards and policies.
- Manage collection, coding, and submission of scale tickets for processing/invoicing.
- Work with local offices and supervisors on getting invoicing and progress payments out in a timely fashion.
- Assist Regional Manager – Aggregates in negotiating terms, rates, and allocation of road building assets (i.e. road trucks, dozers, excavators).
- Ensure compliance with the company’s Code of Ethics and all company policies.
- Travel as required.
- Overtime as required.
- A portion of work is performed in an indoor setting and may include a combination of standing, sitting and walking. Sitting for extended periods of time is required.
- A portion of work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.
- Must be able to work respecting safety policies and procedures. Perform duties safely around mobile equipment and have a high sense of safety awareness while performing his/her work on project sites and roads.
- Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
- Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50lbs on a regular basis.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required as per corporate company policy.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol policy, including testing requirements.
- Must comply with all company policies.
- Manual dexterity required to use computer and peripherals.
