
Manager, Accounts Payable

- Lead the Accounts Payable function to ensure timely, accurate payments and strong vendor relationships.
- Hire, train, coach, and develop AP staff to build a high-performing, accountable team.
- Oversee daily AP operations, including cheque disbursements and wire transfers (weekly and monthly).
- Maintain accurate and complete financial, vendor, and payment records.
- Establish and enforce AP policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Analyze and report key AP performance metrics; identify gaps and implement improvements.
- Serve as a key point of contact for vendors and internal stakeholders, ensuring responsive and professional service.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes related to payables.
- Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to align on budgets, forecasts, and cost management.
- Ensure compliance with external reporting requirements and corporate policies.
- Continuously improve AP systems and processes to enhance accuracy and workflow efficiency with a focus on automation initiatives.
- Participate in finance meetings, providing AP-related insights and recommendations.
- Support audits and ensure documentation is complete, accurate, and accessible.
- Partner cross-functionally to re-engineer processes and support strategic initiatives as needed.

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA designation or working towards it (preferred)
- 5+ years of full-time accounting experience, including AP management
- 3+ years of experience managing people or leading teams.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory valuation
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles and customer adjustments.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (J.D. Edwards or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills and solid knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Knowledge of pricing structures, financial reconciliations, and rebates.
- Demonstrated success in process improvement and automation.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
