- Expertly build, recommend & develop scheduling cycles, shift patterns/rotation and complete schedules that meet operational, legal, and organizational criteria.
- Expertly build, recommend & develop optimized schedules that balance resiliency, employee fatigue limits, workload distribution, and cost containment.
- Apply a structured, methodical approach to schedule design following established scheduling philosophy and standard processes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, advising managers on scheduling build options, work cycle optimization scenarios and on appendix options.
- Ensure compliance with labor agreements, policies, and fatigue management guidelines.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to align scheduling planning with business objectives.
- Monitor, analyze, and adjust schedules as needed to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
- Deliver accurate, publish-ready schedules by the established deadlines, ensuring they meet operational demand, labor agreements, fatigue management requirements and any other criteria determined by the organization.
- Document and justify scheduling decisions.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations to managers, supported by scenario modeling, cost/benefit analysis.
- Act as a trusted advisor.
- Successful completion of secondary school or an approved equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years experience in shift scheduling.
- Experience using the Employee Scheduling Tool (ex: ESS).
- Experience working with various collective agreements.
- Extensive knowledge of scheduling best practices, processes and principles.
- Detailed knowledge of NAV CANADA’s practices and procedures that support scheduling activities.
- Extensive knowledge of collective agreements and any applicable legislation in alignment with employee scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of fatigue management limits and principles, labor and legislative rules, and scheduling best practices.
- Extensive knowledge of specialized workforce planning software (ie: ESS, Workday), as well as analytical tools (ie: Power BI, Tableau software).
- Great knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate complex scheduling issues and options clearly to managers and stakeholders.
- Strong expertise in workforce scheduling, cycle building, shift pattern building, cycle and schedule optimization and schedule arrangement determination (i.e Appendix D and G)
- Strong ability to understand and respond to business priorities and requirements.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to establish and maintain collaborative and positive working relationships with business partners and employees at all levels.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to formulate creative ideas and solutions.
