Provide EHS support to the team, operations, and Pharmaceutical Development Services (PDS). Ensure the site follows EHS regulations and practices. Establish standard procedures for the site and exchange expertise with other sites.Essential Functions:
  • Lead all facets of the Industrial Hygiene (IH) Program at the site:
  • Development of IH sampling plans and sampling strategies
  • Conduct IH assessments on existing products and evaluates technologies to improve containment.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to evaluate and enhance containment of existing processes
  • Lead Designated Substances Program
  • Lead Industrial & Office Ergonomics program
  • Lead Respiratory Protection Program and Fit Testing including PAPR maintenance and testing as necessary.
  • Prove EHS Support to the department and the site on:
  • Incident investigations
  • JHSC audit finding closures
  • Risk assessments
  • Develop and conduct EHS training: orientation, monthly safety talk and department specific training
  • Client & auditor support
  • Conduct equipment reviews
  • Development and implementation of EHS programs and audit protocols and procedures.
  • Act as an advisor and resource to the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • New Project Risk Assessments
  • Attend Kick-Off Meetings and ongoing Project Meetings.
  • Evaluate containment/industrial hygiene for new projects
  • Potent Compound active-specific procedures and training
  • Liaise with Project Managers, Process Engineers and Clients.
  • Provide guidance, back-up and support to other EHS team members and Health Centre
  • Perform alternating or rotating shift work (as required)
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSEducation:
  • B.Sc. in related field
  • Professional Designation -Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of EHS experience in Chemical, manufacturing, or pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum 5 years of Industrial Hygiene training/experience
  • Previous experience conducting presentations / training for various levels within an organization and client or project management experience.
Equivalency:Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Able to work in a fast-paced friendly environment. Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems in order to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.). Be client and patient conscious at all times. Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve the performance of the team by identifying areas for system improvements and engage in problem solving. Proactively identify areas for improvement in the execution of procedures. Communicate risks to timelines in a proactive manner. Consistently strives to improve skills and knowledge in related field.Physical Requirements:Light physical effort and fatigue. Walks, sits, or stands for limited periods. May require occasional equipment operation including keyboard equipment. Lifts light items for limited duration. Typically located in a comfortable indoor area. There may be regular exposure to mild physical discomfort from factors such as dust, fumes or odours, temperature utmosts, loud noise, strong drafts, or bright lights.
