Employment Terms: 1-3 weeks during July/August 2026Target Hiring Range: $20 - $30 per hourThe Opportunity:Branksome Hall is seeking Mentors to work closely with students, in support of our summer programs for the Slingshot Innovation Academy. As a Mentor, you will serve as a coach and guide for students between Grades 7-11 in debate and public speaking, creating an inclusive learning environment.Reporting to the Director, Camps & Slingshot, you will support the Lead Facilitator of the program, assist with the learning and skill development of students, and guide them through the curriculum and projects. Depending on the availability of candidates, Mentors will work full-time for 1-3 weeks during Summer 2026 (preference given to those who can work all 3 weeks).Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Support the Lead Facilitator on a daily basis to execute daily lessons, activities, and projects, within the Debate and Public Speaking Programs to ensure the learning outcomes are metAct as a mentor and support curriculum understanding, skill development and project progression with public speaking and debating capabilitiesLead small group discussions, work 1:1 with students, support hands-on activities and discussions, and guide students through learning using real world examples and demonstrationsProvide targeted, constructive, and actionable feedback to students to support growthModel and mentor students to develop essential skills in areas such as self-confidence, collaborative teamwork, and professional presentationModel and support positive classroom dynamics, collaboration, attendance, and student engagement, addressing any student challenges with a coaching approachAssist with logistical needs and tasks, including off-site trips, final showcase, program setup, organization, and preparation of learning spaces among other tasksCandidate Profile:Ideal candidates will be enrolled in or graduated from post-secondary or post-graduate programs. Consideration will be given to candidates who are in their final year of secondary school.Experience and background in Debate/Public SpeakingExperience working with youth in an educational, camp, or leadership setting is an asset, ideally students in Grades 6–11. This can include experience coaching or mentoring young people.Able to maintain high energy and inspire students, connecting their learning with real-world experiences and applications for each individualExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect effectively with both students and colleaguesPassion for creative, experiential learning to help students become future-readyProficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Apple applicationsExperience with various innovative technologies to support student teamsHow to Apply:Bring your vision, passion and creativity to Branksome Hall.
