- Designs and/or reviews landscape plans, specifications, and contract documents for departmental construction projects under the direction of the Landscape Architect.
- Oversees departmental construction projects and assists in contract administration.
- Prepares drawings as required, including contract plans, City maps, landscape details and graphics for presentation at council and other meetings.
- Reviews landscape submissions of draft plans of subdivision and site plan applications, and provides guidance to applicants and/or consultants regarding compliance with City Standards.
- Ensures compliance with development agreements by reviewing park related portion of subdivision agreements, including boulevard trees, buffer planting, entry features and tree preservation studies, and provides on-site approvals and reviews as required.
- Responds to enquiries and/or resolves/refers complaints as appropriate; and liaises with the public, government agencies, developers, and other City departments.
- Organizes and maintains storage and filing systems for contract drawings and specifications, park and open space plans, landscape details and development agreements.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and the corporate Occupational Health and Safety Policy and related procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned that are in accordance with job responsibilities or necessary departmental or corporate objectives
- University Degree in Landscape Architecture.
- Minimum of two (2) years related experience.
- Community College Diploma in Landscape Technology or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years related experience.
- Membership or eligibility for membership in Ontario Association of Landscape Architects.
- Ability to deal effectively and courteously with the public, staff, community groups, developers, and other levels of government.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and GIS required.
- Class “G” drivers licence in good standing with a reliable vehicle for corporate business.
