- Accountable for following all operating procedures, the Fatality Risk Management, Occupational Health & Safety Act; company policies and comply with all regulatory requirements in order to maintain a safe, clean work environment.
- Be proactive with respect to safety; incorporate best industry practices into the ventilation system designs.
- Ensure the ventilation group works safely, striving to achieve zero harm to people and property
- Promote and adhere to Company safety policies.
- Participate and contribute to safe practice and environmental awareness.
- Demonstrate personal commitment in regard to safety and environmental practices.
- Maintenance of a high standard of efficiency, safety and effectiveness.
- Raising, discussion and resolution of safety issues at regular meetings.
- Become proficient with staging the ventilation system using Ventsim Visual.
- Ability to extract data from Deswik (CAD & SCHEDULE) for the ventilation system design.
- Optimize the ventilation system through collaboration with other departments.
- Oversee planning activities to ensure airway dimensions are appropriate, layouts are appropriate, effective and scheduled to be on time.
- A Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
- 3 -5 years of mine engineering (including operational) experience. Would be an asset but not required
- Be technically competent and have a good understanding of Mine Ventilation Principles and Design
- Strong Ventsim Visual Skills
- Strong Deswik Skills - (CAD, IS and Scheduler)
- Able to mentor and motivate the ventilation team.
- Have strong communication and people skills.
- Able to impact and influence in order to gain the alignment of the Technical Services team, operations, and Corporate Ventilation SME.
- Ability to effectively establish priorities and help to align upcoming work to planning staff.
