
Building Systems Technician | Full-Time | South Okanagan Events Centre

- Assist with the overall daily operation and maintenance of the mechanical systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing etc…) at the South Okanagan Events Centre, Okanagan Hockey Group Training Centre, Penticton Trade & Convention Centre and Memorial Arena
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance of the facilities mechanical equipment
- Work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal supervision
- Operate a wide variety of equipment used in the maintenance of the facility such as high lifts, fork lifts, ladders, drills, torches, saws, grinders etc…
- Ensure assign tasks have been completed in a timely manner according to department and venue standards
- Maintain detailed records of work completed
- Receive and maintain supplies
- Maintain storage areas and equipment in designated areas in a neat and orderly manner
- Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities
- Establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work: staff, contractors, facility users…
- Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended number of days
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Completion of Grade 12
- Specialized training and/or diploma in HVAC maintenance or other related venue mechanical operating system(s)
- 2–4 years’ experience in general maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry and other related venue mechanical systems
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to function in fast-paced, constantly changing, high pressure environment
- Demonstrate attention to detail
- Familiarity of Windows based computer programs
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Familiarity with WorkSafe BC, BC Safety Authority and CSA standards and regulations as related to facilities
- Knowledge of fire and public safety regulations
