- Assisting in the development of strategic and operational plans, policies, procedures, work instructions and training documentation necessary for safe, efficient and high-quality operations
- Assisting in the development and preparation of budgets
- Monitoring and recommending changes to plans and procedures consistent with configuration control, quality management and risk control plans
- Conducting special projects and research
- Resolving complex issues and customer complaints in a timely manner and taking corrective action
- Establishing policies and standards to ensure a high level of performance, quality and customer service
- Preparing employee notices and safety updates with Managers and Directors
- Responding to emergencies and service disruptions as necessary
- Developing and implementing emergency/contingency with other managers
- Developing and implementing corrective action plans with other managers
- Lead and manage a team of 60+ employees
- Develop employee capabilities through mentoring, coaching, and identifying training needs
- Ensure effective communication between staff, supervisors, and management to promote strong working relationships
- Monitor operational activities and staff performance, supporting performance improvement initiatives
- Manage driver and supervisor schedules and attendance
- Support the Operations Director in planning, directing, and overseeing service delivery
- Lead by example and promote a culture of safety and accountability
- Participate in and represent operational concerns at meetings, task forces, and conferences as required
- Prepare and review daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, as well as reports related to incidents or operational performance issues
- Liaise with management and supervisory personnel to improve performance and ensure effective coordination of projects and activities
- Ensure passengers and employees are treated with respect and dignity, and that accessibility requirements are met in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and AODA regulations
- Stay informed of industry trends, technological developments, and relevant legislation
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Annual salary of $90,000 to $116,000

- You possess an Engineering or Management/Business Degree with experience in Metro, LRT or Tramway Operations.
- A combination of strong O&M experience and management skills will be considered.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant leadership experience in a similar operation’s representative role for a rail transit project of a similar scope
- Former experience in greenfield start-up of transit operation, including hiring and training of staff, preparation of operation procedures and manuals, testing, commissioning, and trial running would be considered an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and management skills
- Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills
- Proven track record in change management within complex orientated business environments
- Tactful approach when dealing with the wide variety of problems
- Ability to motivate others and take responsibility
- Excellent time-management, planning, conceptual and consultative skills
- Highly effective co-ordination skills
