- Performing routine and specialized radiological surveys, including contamination, dose rate, airborne, smear, and scan surveys.
- Monitoring radiation levels and identifying radiological conditions, clearly communicating findings to workers and supervisors.
- Establishing and maintaining radiation protection controls, including postings, barriers, zoning, and protective equipment requirements.
- Maintaining accurate records to document compliance with radiation protection monitoring programs.
- Responding to radiological incidents, including containment, cleanup coordination, and dose assessments.
- Providing radiation protection support for decommissioning activities, including pre-job planning and work permit support.
- Advising workers on radiological protective clothing, equipment, contamination control strategies, and safe work practices.
- Supporting waste packaging, surveying, classification, segregation, and characterization activities.
- Performing final clearance surveys of buildings, equipment, materials, and samples leaving controlled areas.
- Assisting trades, operations, and project teams as a radiation protection subject matter expert.
- Identifying emerging radiological issues and exercising stop-work authority when safety requirements are compromised.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
- Secondary School Graduation or equivalent.
- Minimum of three (3) years of radiation protection experience, preferably in a decommissioning environment.
- Experience using radiation protection instrumentation and survey techniques.
- Experience supporting decontamination activities while wearing radiation protection and personal protective equipment.
- Group 1 Radiation Protection Surveyor designation.
- Strong sense of personal responsibility and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain radiological conditions and requirements.
- Ability to lead and influence safe work practices in a construction or decommissioning setting.
- Well-organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to assess changing conditions and make sound decisions, including stopping work when conditions fall outside the planned scope.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC)

- Physically demandsing role required such as, climbing, bending, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
- Ability to work in hazardous, operational, and decommissioning environments.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment, radiation protection equipment, and respirators in physically demanding and hot work conditions.
- This position is part of the WTEG Union and is governed by the terms and conditions outlined in the WTEG Collective Agreement. As a member of this bargaining unit, you’ll benefit from clear expectations around hours of work, wages, vacation, and other conditions that support a fair and consistent working environment.
- Working schedule: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week.
