- Lead rail operations team in Canada with the support of team members in Canada or outside of Canada
- Experience with Rail Systems & Operations Modeling to resolve round trip time, fleet requirements. Plan timetable, service levels etc.
- Strong analytical abilities for analyzing various scenarios and proposing solutions.
- Experience working with the Client including addressing Clients, providing advisory role
- Help in developing and be responsible to implement forward-thinking work plans that supports market and project needs of the rail operations team across Canada.
- Lead and perform rail operations project work, focusing on the technical deliveries.
- Developing, and implementing the strategy and vision for rail operations in Canada and supporting greater integration of Arup's work across the region and beyond.
- Understand and assemble areas where Rail Operations and complimentary Arup offerings addresses market needs, develops programs and solutions along with forming trusted client relationships.
- Maintain positive relationships with key clients and emphasizing client care and focus with wider the team.
- Participate on the multiple projects, from market engagement, solution preparation, project execution and delivery, and project closure.
- Keeping up to date with market developments, anticipating market changes, and assessing opportunities to deliver solutions.
- Support the positive industry profile in this market for Arup for Rail Operations, Engineering and Advisory.
- Help in recruiting, developing, mentoring, and coaching staff, ensuring that new team skills are developed in relation to new market opportunities.
- Actively participate in Americas Rail Skill Network, industry activities and events, including working groups, forums, panels, and interest groups, to contribute to, and engage, standard process, emerging and digital technologies.
- Promoting and communicating Arup's values by ensuring excellence and quality of work in all activities performed by the team.
- Minimum 7 years' experience in a senior engineering role in a rapid, subway or commuter rail operation.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in engineering (electrical, mechanical, electronic, information systems or similar)
- Validated experience in operations related to Rail Stations, Rail Corridors, Maintenance Yards and facilities, operation control centers, and all other elements associated with operating a safe and reliable railway.
- Ontario Professional Engineer status (P.Eng) or similar internationally recognized designation
- Good understanding of the economic aspects, funding aspects, planning issues and business benefits of transport and rail operations.
- Proven understanding on technology implementation, organizational and asset improvements
- Experience in rail business cases and feasibility studies
- Knowledge in rail asset management
- Hands-on experience with RaiSim or/and Open Track modeling tools
- Demonstrated success in task management
- Ability to identify solutions and develop strategies and service offerings.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with clients and collaborators
- The operational functions of rapid and urban rail systems - with sound knowledge of the systems, infrastructure, assets, facilities, and customer facing interfaces.
