- Reviewing work requests, communicating with user departments, and evaluating designs, drawings, and specifications to understand project needs
- Maintaining an inventory of supplies, equipment, and tools
- Conducting operational and safety risk assessments for work projects
- Arranging work schedules with user departments and assembling supplies, tools, and equipment
- Designing, constructing, and maintaining woodwork, doors, and hardware
- Installing and repairing structural elements such as T-bar ceiling grids, wall guards, handrails, and wall components that adhere to the relevant Building Codes and By-Laws
- Completing relevant reports and records, such as daily work summary sheets
- Performing other general maintenance and repair duties related to building exteriors and equipment
- Handling a variety of areas such as concrete formwork, fencing, barricades, playground equipment, or cladding
- Assigning work tasks to designated staff and providing related training and orientation
- Completion of Secondary School education
- A minimum of 2 years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- A Certificate of Journeyman Carpenter Trades Qualification authorized by the Province of British Columbia
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, drawings, and installation specifications
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact and work with others effectively
- Ability to organize and prioritize work
- Capacity to use relevant machines and equipment
