- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems
- Install, repair and maintain domestic, commercial or industrial plumbing fixtures and systems
- Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors
- Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings
- Measure, cut, bend and thread pipes using hand and power tools or machines
- Select the type and size of pipe required and measure, cut, thread, bend, clamp, solvent cement or solder pipe
- Assemble and install valves and fittings
- Join pipe sections and secure them in position
- Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges
- Install sinks, tubs and toilets
- Install underground storm sanitary and water piping systems
- May provide information to supervisors for preparation of cost estimates
- Follow all company policies and procedures including Trotter & Morton’s Health and Safety program
- Required to complete Field Level Hazard Assessments regularly and ensure apprentices are also completely correctly
- Responsible for reporting any unsafe work practices to Supervisor
- Responsible for mentoring and training apprentices
- Perform other duties as assigned

- Blueprint reading
- Knowledge of current Plumbing Code
- Superior knowledge of applicable hand tools & power tools and scissor lifts
- Plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair skills.
- Ability to lead others in troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
- Ability to develop and implement planned maintenance programs.
- Ability to read, understand, and follows safety procedures
- Must possess a valid Journeymen Certificate/ Interprovincial Red Seal
- Must have Construction Safety Training System (CSTS)
- Minimum of four years of experience in the trade and 6000 hours.
