We're seeking part-time Deck Supervisors to work 4-16 hours per week in the state-of-the-art pool within our Athletic and Wellness Centre. Reporting into the Aquatic Leads, you'll be part of a motivated and certified aquatics team, ensuring the safety and quality of our programming. Shifts will vary on weekdays and weekends to support our curricular and auxiliary programs, and the contract will have the opportunity to renew based on performance and programming needs.Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:Ensuring the safety of all patrons using the Athletics and Wellness Centre’s swimming poolsRespond to and manage any emergency situation, following established protocols, then reporting all incidents and concerns to the Aquatic LeadsOversee aquatic teams to provide guidance, support and feedback for their growth.Supports Swim Instructors with planning, organizing, and implementing lesson plans and evaluationsOversee the delivery of swimming lessons to ensure classes are following the established curriculumOversee the delivery of aquatic programming to ensure lessons, recreational swims, and special events are executed smoothlyProvides a high level of customer service to all participants and families, communicating effectively by providing information about the program and related policies and proceduresAct as the first responder in case of an emergency and provide First Aid as needed throughout the pool areaEnforce and ensure all pool policies, procedures, and safety regulations are adhered toEnsure daily records (opening and closing, chemical records, bather loads, etc.) are completed correctly and up to date for inspection purposesMonitor designated pool areas and is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the pool deck, changing rooms and shower facilities (e.g. picking up equipment and safely storing it, picking up towels and debris etc.)Performs maintenance and related work to ensure the pool deck and equipment are clean and well-maintained for use, as requiredComplete mandatory staff training before every Fall (October-December), Winter (January-March), Spring (April-June) sessionCandidate Profile:Active National Lifeguard certification, Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C’ with AED (issued from Lifesaving Society, Canadian Red Cross, St John’s Ambulance, or Canadian Ski Patrol)Lifesaving Society Swim InstructorPool Operator 1 Certification, Aquatic Supervisor Certification, and Examiner Bronze is requiredMust possess knowledge of the rules and regulation governing safety in an indoor pool facilityKnowledge and practice of Lifesaving, Lifeguarding, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First AidEnjoy working with children and youthDemonstrated ability to handle a variety of service situations in a busy aquatic facilityCapable of responding to and making decisions in an emergency situationPrevious experience as a Lifeguard and Swim/Lifesaving Instructor is requiredSEE Evaluator and Coach Level 1 certification issued by LSS is an assetWorking Conditions:Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, and weekendsRequired to move, lift, carry, pull and place objects weighing less than or equal to 40 pounds without assistanceStand, sit or walk for an extended period of timeReach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting and pullingMove on sloping, uneven or slippery surfacesTarget Hiring Range: $24.57 HourlyHow to Apply:Bring your vision, passion and creativity to Branksome Hall.
