You want to learn more about the design process and how a team works together to get projects doneBinnie is looking for a Design Engineer EIT to join our growing Water and Wastewater Division full-time in our Burnaby head office, located near scenic Deer Lake.Our Water and Wastewater Division provides design and project management services specializing in sanitary, water and storm drainage collection and pumping systems, valve chambers, and Pressure Reducing Chambers.You will work with our supportive team of Engineers, Technologists, and Project Managers. You will carry out design work on projects from conceptual level through to detailed design and construction. This challenging role offers great mentorship opportunities.YOUR ROLE:
  • Preparing design drawings using AutoCAD or Civil3D
  • Performing design work in consultation with the Engineer of Record
  • Preparing reports, manuals, and technical memorandums
  • Preparing proposals and engineering fee estimates
  • Ensuring quality control procedures are completed as per Binnie’s Organizational Quality Management (OQM) Policy
  • Ensuring that project designs and calculations adhere to legal standard
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Completed Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or in a related engineering discipline
  • Registration as an EIT with EGBC or equivalent
  • Experience working with Civil/Mechanical engineering projects with a focus on pumps and control valves.
  • Valid Driver’s License and personal vehicle preferred
  • Previous hands-on experience working with AutoCAD and Civil3D
  • Strong written communication skills including technical report writing
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, other consultants and contractors
  • Ability to work cooperatively and productively in a team environment
  • Ability to consistently maintain a high degree of accuracy and quality in work
  • Confidence to perform design work with minimum supervision
