Reporting to the VP of Operations, the role will support manufacturing operations across North America. The Health, Safety & Environmental Manager is primarily responsible for the consistent implementation, management and monitoring of all health, safety, & environmental programs across North America.LOCATION:
Candidate to sit out of Ontario. Role will include up to 50% travel across North America.
Compensation Range - $135k+ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Establishes and ensures that local management, employees, and site committees are adhering to corporate standards, actively communicating to all plant personnel regarding EHS related issues and are developing the appropriate corrective action plans.
- Develop and maintain a positive image for Sungro with the public and with government regulatory agencies. Maintain effective communication with government agencies and provide these agencies with reports and technical data as required.
- Represent the Company on health, safety, and environmental subjects by liaising with external stakeholders including general public, government agencies, insurance carriers, and consultants.
- Develop policies and training plans to sustain a safety culture across all levels of employees.
- Manage capital and financial budgets for HASE projects and manage Regional HSE leaders.
- Develop strategic initiatives consistent with Sungro Horticulture Operation’s vision.
- Be vigilant and stay abreast of changes in federal and provincial HSE legislation and regulation.
- Direct incident investigation and lost time and incident prevention programs on a corporate level, to minimize injuries and lost time costs to production.
- Oversees and tracks, records, maintains and reports HSE incident data. Identifies and analyzes trends.
- Reviews, recommends, and implements modifications to work plan, processes, procedures to reduce HSE incidents and improve health and safety performance.
- Develops and deploys health and safety communication to team members, operational leaders, and employees.
- Coach, mentor and support HSE Team and Plant HSE needs in North America
- Professional liaison and partnership with plant leaders and functional leaders in North America in resolving complex HSE matters.
- 7-10 years HSE experience in a continuous manufacturing environment with proven track record of measurable results.
- Experience in compliance and process auditing
- Project management experience from inception, planning to completion
- Working knowledge of provincial occupational health and safety legislation across Canada and U.S. OSHA standards, workers compensation legislation, Fire Code and CSA and ANSI standards.
- Excellent people leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and change management
