- Reviews detailed customer specifications and works with Regional Sales Managers to obtain clear definition of customer needs and requirements. Acts as the primary contact with the customer during the bid or proposal preparation stage.
- Initiates Bid BOM in Team Center for bids and options and coordinates with work cell and functional teams to complete all tasks by the required due dates. Monitors completion of tasks and follows up as required.
- Reviews specification gaps and cost place holders in Bid BOM. Works with New Flyer functional teams (engineering, service, operations, finance, legal, aftermarket) to develop solutions for gaps and customer needs. Reviews denied requests and develop strategy in resubmission of denied requests.
- Prepares and submits Request for Approved Equals (and supporting documentation) when New Flyer needs to deviate technically and/or commercially in line with the agreed Bid or Option Strategy.
- Works with Supply team to ensure all costing of the BOM is completed, and quotes for required items are obtained.
- Works with Technical Sales Manager and Regional Sales Manager to develop final pricing recommendation. Obtains margin validation and secures all the necessary approvals in accordance with company policy. Prepares for and chairs pricing meetings as required.
- Prepares bid or proposal package elements and ensures that the proposal is submitted within established departmental guidelines. Creates bid documentation, consolidates input from functional teams and edits bid documentation.
- Prepares all contract changes after initial bid submission including the submission of a best and final offer (BAFO), if necessary. Ensures that Bid BOM contains the most complete and accurate information before the opportunity is closed off. Answers customer questions and follows up on open items related to technical definition.
- Participates in Pre-Production meetings as necessary.
- Maintains the sales funnel, CRM database and supporting documentation as necessary, including sales transaction reports.
- University degree in business or engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Project management experience.
- Working knowledge of heavy-duty transit bus architecture and components.
- Working knowledge of basic accounting and financial statements.
- Working knowledge of contractual terms and conditions.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Effective at managing time and competing demands
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
