The Opportunity:This role oversees the administration of Canadian employee benefits programs, with a strong focus on disability management and return-to-work coordination. You will work closely with internal teams, insurers, and healthcare providers to ensure compliant, efficient, and employee-focused programs, while supporting accommodation planning and enhancing the overall employee experience.What You'll Be Doing:
Administering group benefit plans, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and renewals
Acting as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries related to benefits, leaves, and retirement programs
Managing short-term and long-term disability, WSIB, and leave of absence programs
Reviewing and assessing medical documentation, functional abilities forms, and insurer reports to support claims and accommodations
Coordinating with insurers, WSIB, healthcare providers, and internal teams on disability cases and return-to-work plans
Supporting annual benefits renewals in collaboration with brokers and vendors
Ensuring compliance with federal and provincial legislation, including employment standards, pensions, and privacy laws
Maintaining accurate records within HRIS and benefits systems
Leading benefits communication initiatives such as onboarding, wellness, and retirement sessions
Supporting audits, reporting, and data reconciliation activities
Partnering with payroll and finance on deductions, billing, and reconciliations
Leading accommodation planning and modified work programs in alignment with medical guidance, operational needs, and legislative requirements
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
Post-secondary education in Health Administration, Disability Management, Human Resources, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in a benefits-focused HR role with strong exposure to disability management and claims administration in Canada
Solid understanding of medical terminology, injury classifications, and functional limitations related to workplace accommodations
Proven ability to review and interpret medical documentation and assess alignment with job requirements
Strong knowledge of Canadian benefits legislation, WSIB requirements, and human rights obligations
Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, healthcare providers, insurers, and stakeholders
High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
