If the answer is “Yes!" this is the job for you!Catholic Social Services is currently recruiting for One Full-time Position, 40-hours-per-week, Payroll Coordinator to join our head office in Edmonton, AB.Job Summary:The Payroll Coordinator works closely with payroll team members as well as Digital Services and Innovation (DSI) and human resources (HR) team members.Job Responsibilities:Collaboration
  • Understands, supports, promotes, and adheres to the Agency’s vision, mission, values, and organizational ethics, and treat all persons with humility, compassion, and respect
  • Presents as a positive and professional role model and ambassador for the Agency in interactions with internal and external stakeholders. Maintains respectful personal boundaries
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully in a professional and confidential manner with all employees and external stakeholders; both verbally and in writing
  • Establishes and maintains respectful, collaborative working relationships with employees and external stakeholders, as applicable
Payroll Applications
  • Processes semi-monthly payroll for approximately 2,000 salaried and hourly employees.
  • Works collaboratively with all areas of the Agency to ensure the integrity of the scheduling and timekeeping process
  • Check payroll information for accuracy and ensure all relevant paperwork is in order
  • Update data with salary or wage adjustments
  • Assist with Payroll audits and reconciliation reports pre and post payroll processing
  • Assist with year-end payroll reconciliation activities
  • Complete Record of Employments and respond to Service Canada requests
  • Process wage garnishments, benefit arrears and other benefit reconciliations
  • Maintains both employee and Agency-level data in compliance with all Agency policies, CRA and Employment Standards
  • Answers, troubleshoots as applicable, and responds to all payroll inquiries with tact and diplomacy in a timely and professional manner
General
  • Ensures appropriate and confidential handling and storage of employee and Agency information and documentation in accordance to Agency policies, procedures, and standards
  • Completes and submits regular and ad hoc reports and documentation as per standard procedures on or before assigned due dates
  • Initiates ongoing process improvements within role; assists with the implementation of approved proposals, processes, procedures, and reports as assigned
  • Reports incidents to manager or designate in a timely manner
  • Maintains a pleasant and safe work environment, ensuring high levels of cleanliness, comfort, and safety
  • Attends and actively participates in scheduled meetings. Supports team initiatives and helps to identify problems and suggest solutions
  • Performs other related duties as required
What This Job Requires:
  • Minimum of a Diploma in accounting or equivalent business program from a recognized educational institution
  • PCP designation will be preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ recent work experience in payroll
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
  • Satisfactory security check including Police Information Check (PIC)/Criminal Record Check (CRC)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of payroll processes
  • Proficient in working with applicable Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Proficient in use of Agency-assigned computer applications and databases
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Agency policies, procedures, and standards; as well as relevant legislation, regulations, practice standards, and practice guidelines
  • Strong customer-relation skills, client-service attitude, and commitment to providing exceptional service and quality results with empathy and compassion
  • Emotional intelligence; empathy and understanding of different priorities and viewpoints; awareness of and sensitivity towards individuals with diverse needs
  • Comfortable working in a Catholic environment, being respectful of relevant Catholic teachings and practices
  • Ability and willingness to work in and contribute to a diverse and inclusive team environment that may include a wide range of beliefs, lifestyles, languages, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds
