The team works closely with business owners, community partners, and other City departments to reduce barriers, share information, and strengthen Victoria’s neighbourhood and downtown economy.The IMPACT Associate role offers hands‑on experience supporting programs that help businesses day‑to‑day, including small businesses and businesses led by equity‑seeking communities. This role is designed as a learning opportunity for someone who is interested in economic and community development and wants to build practical skills in a supportive team environment.The IMPACT Associate reports to the Assistant Director and works closely with staff across the Economic Development team. You will help plan, coordinate, and support projects such as:
Helping deliver workshops and information sessions for entrepreneurs and small business owners
Collecting information and helping prepare reports on the economic health of downtown Victoria
Supporting research and program development related to mobile businesses
Assisting with the development of incubator and support programs for underserved and marginalized communities
This role involves organizing information, supporting projects, working with community partners, and responding to questions from businesses and the public. In this Associate position, you will assist with projects within a specific City department, contribute to the overall goals of the work unit, have job shadowing opportunities, and participate in educational experiences.KEY DUTIES
Collaborate closely and actively participate in feedback sessions with a supervisor to contribute to the continuous improvement of the organization's operations.
Utilize tools and software platforms under the direct guidance of your supervisor.
Participate actively in the development and enhancement of projects aligned with the department's strategic goals.
Provide valuable field and/or office support to support the successful execution of assigned projects.
Collaborate with team members to facilitate shared learning and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of innovative solutions. Maintain detailed records of your work process, including any challenges encountered and problem-solving approaches employed.
Collaborate with colleagues from different departments or teams on cross-functional projects to gain a broader perspective and develop a well-rounded skill set supporting your knowledge and success in a municipal career.
Attend and actively participate in educational activities that enhance your knowledge and skills, aligning with IMPACT program objectives and the department's needs.
