Job Category: QualityJob Description:Job Overview:The Senior Quality Inspector uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Inspection Discipline within McDermott, with a particular focus on rotating and mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, fans, motors, and associated auxiliaries.They act as a technical resource for colleagues and stakeholders, sharing conceptual and practical expertise related to inspection, quality surveillance, and verification of rotating equipment throughout fabrication, assembly, installation, alignment, testing, and commissioning phases. The Senior Quality Inspector ensures inspection activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes, industry standards, and client requirements.Salary Range:$156,389 - $172,028 (The range provided is for contracted hours only. In addition, McDermott offers a competitive total rewards package, including project up-lift and bonuses.)Responsibilities:Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Quality Control activities to determine product conformity to customer specifications through independent inspection and testing, including rotating equipment and mechanical packages, in accordance with the Project Quality Plan.
  • Identify non-conformities related to rotating machinery components, tolerances, clearances, materials, assembly, alignment, and testing, ensuring timely rectification and final resolution.
  • Direct, supervise, and participate in inspection activities to ensure product quality for rotating equipment, mechanical systems, and associated piping, lubrication, sealing, and auxiliary systems.
  • Consult with the Project Quality Manager concerning prevention and appraisal resources, and the effectiveness of the Project Quality Plan and procedures necessary to achieve quality outcomes for rotating equipment and mechanical installations.
  • Develop Project Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) incorporating hold and witness points for rotating equipment fabrication, assembly, and performance testing.
  • Liaise with QC, NDT, Certification, Welding Engineering, Vendors, and Customers to resolve rotating equipment quality issues.
  • Provide interpretation of applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements relating to rotating equipment and mechanical systems
Qualifications:Essential Qualifications and Education:
  • Senior high school graduate or degree in a related field of study.
  • 10+ years of Quality Control or related experience, including rotating equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Experience inspecting pumps, compressors, turbines, motors, gearboxes, and packaged equipment.
  • Familiarity with API, ASME, ISO, and OEM standards for rotating equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • CWB Level II
