They have a great reputation and are committed to excellence in design, manufacturing and construction.Reporting to the General Manager, the Quality Control Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and improving upon the Plant’s CPCQA Quality program. The successful candidate will spearhead design, analysis, and coordination of precast concrete components, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and building codes. This role involves collaborating with project teams, including engineers, contractors, and production staff, to deliver structurally sound and cost-effective precast solutions.Key responsibilities include: Quality Assurance:
Manage plant CPCQA-certified program.
Ensure designs comply with industry standards (e.g., PCI, CSA, ACI, ASTM) and local building codes.
Review shop drawings and fabrication details for accuracy and constructability.
Liaise with contractors, owners, and project managers, ensuring that production standards exceed expectations
Conduct site visits to verify proper installation and address field issues.
Documentation:
Prepare technical reports, design calculations, submittals, and specifications for project documentation.
Maintain accurate records of design revisions and project correspondence
Design and Analysis:
Develop and adapt concrete mix designs with a focus on quality and cost-effectiveness.
Develop detailed precast concrete designs, including structural calculations, connection details, and shop drawings using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or Tekla Structures.
Perform structural analysis to ensure components meet load requirements, seismic standards, and durability specifications.
Optimize designs for manufacturing efficiency, transportation, and erection feasibility.
Project Coordination:
Collaborate with engineers, general contractors, and clients to review project requirements and provide technical expertise.
Coordinate with production teams to ensure designs align with manufacturing capabilities and schedules.
Attend project meetings to address design challenges and provide solutions.
Innovation and Improvement:
Stay updated on advancements in precast concrete technology and incorporate best practices into designs.
Contribute to process improvements in design workflows and production methods.
What the successful candidate will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
PEng, or ability to obtain within a year
Minimum of 3 years of experience in precast concrete design or structural engineering.
Proven track record of delivering precast projects in commercial or industrial construction.
Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, or RISA).
Expertise in CAD and BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
Familiarity with precast-specific software (e.g., IMPACT, Precast Computing) is a plus.
Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and accuracy.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
In return, you can expect:
Base salary - $80,000 - $90,000+. Those will additional experience and salary expectations may also be considered.
