Ensure customer retention and profitability of this profit center.Take responsibility for the evaluation, purchase, refurbishment, display, and marketing of the inventory of used units.Supply the sales department with sellable used units.The MAIN TASKS are listed below, but the incumbent may be assigned to other functions.Forecast, on a monthly and annual basis, the objectives related to sales, gross revenue, and essential expenses of the used units sales department.Participate in repairs and manage the annual operating budget of the used units sales department.Ensure appropriate follow-up with any potential buyer by creating, implementing, and closely monitoring a customer research and sales control system.Create, implement, and control a tracking system for used unit buyers.Provide accurate data on activity control on the floor to their supervisor on a weekly basis.Lead the marketing and advertising activities of the used units department, in collaboration with their supervisor. Collaborate on the design of advertising campaigns and various promotions.Ensure that all customers are referred to the sales manager.Complete transaction sheets and submit them to accounting in a timely manner.Establish and maintain standards for delivering units to customers.Process commission sheets for sales advisors and control their payroll records.Analyze various reports related to customer satisfaction and submit recommendations to ensure customer retention and loyalty.Evaluate all used units, ensure that their titles are compliant, and check their mechanical condition as well as the bodywork.Ensure legal warranties for proper functioning on used units intended for retail sale.Plan and control the display of units.Understand and stay informed about federal, provincial, and municipal regulations affecting the sale of used units, and comply with them.Stay updated on new products, programs, and current promotions from the manufacturer and/or financial institutions. Notify the sales team of any changes.Tasks related to inventory management/purchase/evaluationClosely monitor customer preferences, lost sales, the sales history of the dealership, and local market trends to choose which units to keep in stock and make balanced purchases.Analyze advertisements in newspapers or other publications to find well-maintained units with low mileage.Manage the refurbishment of used units (reconditioning).Ensure that bodywork and mechanical repairs are completed below the costs and time expected by the dealership.Create and maintain an external network (wholesalers and retailers) for both the purchase and sale of units.Tasks related to human resources managementParticipate in weekly meetings for the sales team and implement systems that ensure the ongoing training of used unit sales advisors.Train and motivate the staff under their responsibility, participate in hiring their staff in collaboration with their supervisor.Conduct formal performance evaluations of the staff under their responsibility at fixed intervals.Assist used unit sales advisors in setting aggressive yet realistic monthly goals and provide the necessary support to achieve them.Help used unit sales advisors close transactions and meet with customers if necessary.Ensure that used unit sales advisors understand and comply with the dealership's policies, terms, and sales systems.Monitor the efforts of used unit sales advisors to improve the dealership's image and customer satisfaction ratings.Encourage teamwork in a customer-focused sales environment throughout the sales, delivery, and follow-up processes.Ensure effective communication within the new units department as well as between departments.
