Existing Vacancy: Yes - we're currently hiring candidates for an existing vacancy in this position.Job SummaryThe Fund Development Officer is responsible for soliciting mid-level donations and sponsorship gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations in support of VON's strategic priorities. The Fund Development Officer leads and supports fundraising activities to raise awareness and philanthropic revenue in support of VON programs and services.Key Responsibilities:
- Manages and fosters relationships with all levels of donors (individuals, corporations and foundations) to increase annually fundraised revenues with a focus on mid-level donors in support of VONs strategic priorities.
- Solicits sponsorship and corporate outreach, ensuring donor stewardship and recognition commitments are fulfilled.
- Researches and develops mid-level pipeline prospects of all types and sponsorship donors.
- Prepares and researches comprehensive grant and foundation applications, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and compliance with funding requirements.
- Leads fundraising event volunteer committees and assignments.
- Contributes to the development and maintenance of event budgets.
- Collaborates with the communications team to assist with the development of donor-focused content through the implementation of a marketing and communication plan for events.
- Leads the development, creation, and management of strategic content across all social media platforms as it relates to fundraising and event promotion.
- Represents the organization at community events, donor meetings and public speaking engagements.
- Provides leadership with reports on statistical analyses of fund development activities, including donor retention and event return on investment (ROI).
- Prepares data queries and produces reports from Raiser's Edge and reports on data.
- Researches and develops corporate and community partnerships in coordination with the Manager.
- Maintains accurate records of donor interactions, gifts and stewardship activities in the data management system (Raiser's Edge).
- Manages bank deposits and coding donations at the site level.
- Promotes the goals and values of VON and their role as an integrated community care provider.
- Promotes a safe and healthy workplace, ensuring workplace conduct and activities are in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and compliant with the VON Safety Management System, including all Policies, Safe Work Practices and Procedures.
- Abides by all VON policies and work practices.
- Abides by all confidentiality and protection of personal information policies, regulations and practices and ensures appropriate safeguards are in place within their role.
- Works in collaboration with other staff in a team approach to service delivery.
- Maintains regular contact with local cross-functional team, extended Fund Development team and the national Marketing, Communications and Philanthropy team.
- Engages with external stakeholders for event coordination and fund development activities.
- Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, public relations or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in fundraising or event planning.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Adobe, Canva and Constant Contact
- Knowledge and experience of the charitable and not-for-profit sector.
- Superior presentation and public speaking skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective business correspondence.
- Project Management skills.
- Ability to work independently and part of the team.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Acute attention to detail.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Must have access to a personal vehicle for work and possess both a current driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.
- A current and original copy of a satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required.
- A Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required.
- Ability to speak French is an asset in French designated areas.
