Assistant General Manager, OperationsScarborough, ONManufacturingCompetitive salary $90,000-$115,0000 based on experience with strong bonus, benefitsOur client, a well-established Canadian manufacturer in the industrial production sector, is seeking an Assistant General Manager of Operations to support and scale plant performance across a multi-department facility. This role partners closely with the General Manager to drive operational efficiency, production output, and team performance in a fast-paced environment. The position plays a critical role in overseeing day-to-day plant activities while identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization. This is a hands-on leadership opportunity with clear visibility to senior leadership and long-term growth potential.The Role:
  • Support the General Manager in overseeing daily operations across manufacturing, finishing, warehousing, and assembly functions
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure production targets, quality standards, and delivery timelines are consistently met
  • Monitor and optimize production scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to improve efficiency and throughput
  • Oversee plant performance metrics including cost control, labour efficiency, and operational KPIs
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards, maintaining a strong safety-first culture
  • Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and resolve production issues
  • Contribute to capital planning, equipment optimization, and automation initiatives to enhance operational capability
  • Support workforce management including coaching, conflict resolution, and alignment across departments
  • Maintain oversight of inventory, procurement coordination, and materials management to support uninterrupted production
  • Assist in ERP utilization and data tracking to improve reporting accuracy and decision-making
The Ideal Candidate:
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, with strong exposure to metal fabrication or similar processes
  • 5+ years in a senior operations leadership role
  • Solid understanding of production equipment including presses, welding systems, CNC machinery, and automated manufacturing processes
  • Experience working with compressed air systems and industrial gas systems within a production environment
  • Working knowledge of finishing systems such as powder coating or industrial paint processes
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, plant workflows, and operational cost structures
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and quality control principles within a manufacturing setting
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and working collaboratively across departments
  • Exposure to ERP systems and data-driven decision-making in a production environment
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to operate in a hands-on leadership capacity
  • Background in health and safety standards and regulatory compliance within an industrial setting
  • Experience with automation, process improvement, or lean manufacturing initiatives is considered an asset
